Flowcrete’s Stone Carpet Sets Off Swimming Pools

A bespoke system from flooring specialist Flowcrete has been developed to provide an attractive, non-slip surround for swimming pools at a number of HSBC Bank’s residential properties in the exclusive Peak district of Hong Hong.

Designers at leading international built asset consultancy EC Harris were looking for a safe floor finish with a natural look for the pool-sides at several of the Bank’s properties. Fast completion was also one of the key criteria in order to minimise disruption to residents.

Following discussions with Flowcrete’s technical team, Flowcrete’s Rustik UV system was proposed as the solution. Based on a system originally designed for indoor use, Rustik UV comprises natural stone encapsulated in a clear UV resistant binder. The binder will withstand the harsh sunlight, while the seamless surface is pleasant and safe to walk and play on as well as being easy to clean.

Mr Goufree Lau, Senior Project Manager at EC Harris commented on the work saying, “The solution proposed by Flowcrete met our requirements on a number of levels including being able to have the system formulated in a special colour. The four swimming pool projects have been very well executed and delivered on time.”

The work was carried out by A.S.T.E.L. (Advanced Specialist Treatment Engineering Limited), Flowcrete’s approved installer in Hong Kong. The Rustik UV system has also been installed on the driveway at the residence of one of the Bank’s top management, creating an impressive entrance to the property.

Flowcrete Hong Kong Managing Director Alan Blay said, “The flexibility of specialist flooring systems means that we were able to build on an existing formulation to create a bespoke solution for this particular application. We were also able to provide the Rustik UV in a colour to match the surrounding decor.”

The Flowcrete Rustik UV system has since been specified by E C Harris for a further prestigious project in the same residential district.
